Luna's Observations about National Parks and Camping

Here are some of my highlight and observation of the past week's National parks and camping:

Bryce Canyon
hike: 3mi sunset point - queens garden - navajo loop - sunset point
camping: camp kodachrome state park
camping price: 20$

Bryce Canyon was one of my favorites so far. Bryce Canyon (so far) has stuck out alot for me, it was the first big hike we did (little did i know what we would be doing) and it was very steep but when you get down it makes you feel small to walk by the walls and to look up at were you just were. You really have to see it for yourself but its like your in a different world and as you go down all the way down, you will walk thru tunnels and thru canyons. Near the end there are two different ways to go 0.6 of a mile or 0.7 of a mile and we picked 0.7 and I can tell you it was worth it; we went thru a canyon then to get up we went up a beautiful twisty path but that doesn't even explain it you really need to see it to know.
Camping; it was so high that the temperature drops a lot at night so we went down 2000-3000 feet and it was better. This was my favorite campsite (#4) because it had a direct access to the bathroom, firewood, dishwashing station and the dumpsters. Also we had being on the road for a while and they had modern showers so that was really nice.

Red Rocks
hike: Red Rocks Canyon
camping: Red Rocks Canyon overflow
camping price: 20$

Red Rocks wasn't one of my favorite places but I thought I would write about it anyway. The camping was good but there were no more sites so we had to camp in the overflow. One of the reasons I put this in this post is because its excellent for hikes and picture/views and its really close to Las Vegas. But with my experience, if you plan on going there reserve if you can or get there early so you can get a campsite because they said they had been full since they had opened and that we got lucky that there was a group site free and being used as an overflow.

Capitol Reef
hike: Hickman bridge and slot canyon
camping: Capitol Reef Fruita Campground
camping price: 20$

Capitol Reef was a really great spot to camp and hike. You get to camp in an orchard. The campsites were close together but they were under trees. The campsite had a loop A and a loop B we stayed in loop A because loop B was more for RVs and they could have generator on at a certain time. I realised that the camp is meant more for the summer not the winter, for example there were lots of trees that would be nice in the summer for shade and you got to camp in an orchard which would have u-pick fruit on the trees but it was the winter. Hickman Bridge was a really beautiful hike. It had a lot of elevation gain but over a while also we got this booklet that you can get at the head of the trail for 50¢ that is like a tour guide.
