Juice Factory
Sometimes the most unexpected attractions are the most fun. We had read about a juice factory on Moorea that was open for free tours with juice tasting at the end. The kids were keen to get in on the free juice, so one morning we made our way up the hill a bit to the Rotui Juice Factory and Distillery.
It smelled like pineapples and, like most of Moorea, was humid and warm.
We watched the process of the juices being boxed and then packed into boxes for distribution. All I could imagine was how monotonous and efficient the major factories in countries like China must be. We all learned a bit, maybe most importantly that no one really wants to work on a factory line...
At the end we enjoyed delicious juice freely poured by the lady who provides taste testing. The kids couldn't believe their good fortune to have what seemed like an endless supply of shot glass size amounts of juice. Pineapple, passion fruit, melon... it made for a happy group.
After donning our hair nets we led ourselves on a self-guided tour looking down at the factory floor. The French language lesson of the day was reading the information signs.
