Solaz: My Thoughts on Moorea
I know Mom already wrote a post on Moorea I thought I would do one on my opinion of the island. Overall, I think that Moorea is probably the one of the most chill and beautiful of all of the French Polynesian islands. The people here are for the most part very nice, they are always enthusiastic and welcoming.
One of my favorite parts is that it feels like you are living with the locals instead of having to just be catered to by the locals. This may not be true but I feel like they are enjoying the beaches and the water just as much as the tourists. The locals just sit in the water on the side of the road to cool down and pass time. One thing that I thought was funny was when we got off the ferry and the guy who was taking us to the rental car place was telling us about the island he said there is no way to get lost driving around because there is only one road all the way around the island! Later we found that to be true and it came in very handy it was also why dad did so many U-ies on the road. The overall feel of Moorea is just pretty chill. The snorkeling was great because the water was pretty clear and there was a ton of fish.
Here are some of my favorite things we did. The lagoonarium is a island that they take you on a boat out to and they let you snorkel off the island all day. It was the best snorkeling we did on the island. We also enjoyed the magic circus of samoa. Tiki Park was zip lines where Luna and my aunt Amy did the super hard ziplines. At a local juice factory, we did a tour of the factory and after that they had unlimited juice samples and it was great. Noel pour tous is local festival that it felt like everybody that lived on the island was there because it was packed. Those are just some of the things we did. Today we were at the beach and someone made a comment about how you could easily walk on to the private beach of the hotel from the public beach. Also unlike in any other touristy tropical island there is nobody trying to sell you stuff on the beach when you are swimming or laying there. It also feels very safe like when we were swimming we just left all our stuff there on the beach but nobody would take it. So overall it felt very safe.
I think that it was a awesome place and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
